Five Tasks in the Morning

You’ve come to realize that interacting on these social media methods take a bit of time, and that what you’ve saved in dollars has to be made up in effort and persistence and a lot of human expense. With that in mind, I’m sitting at my kitchen table and I wanted to share with you the first five things I do when the laptop lid goes up. (Note: people subscribed to my newsletter will get my entire day’s tasks sent to them on Monday.)

5 Tasks in the Morning

I open the same four apps every morning: Firefox, Mail, Seesmic Desktop, and TextEdit. My tabs in Firefox are:

* Google Reader – for my news, my searches, my “ego feed” of who’s talking about my stuff.
* Google Calendar – how I live.
* Facebook – I’m not good at Facebook, but I try to stay connected.
* Facebook : Trust Agents Community – this is the online community for my book with Julien.
* Friendfeed – I’m no Scobleizer, but I do dip in and look.
* And then usually tabs of stories I want to think more about for later.

StumbleUpon Stumbles Out of eBay’s Arms

The content discovery service, StumbleUpon, has gotten itself back to start-up status, after being bought by eBay two years ago. According to a press release, today SU returned to being and “investor-backed startup” by a roster of well-known Silicon Valley investors, including Ram Shriram of Sherpalo Ventures, Accel Partners and August Capital.

Its founders, Garrett Camp and Geoff Smith are also back, with Camp now in place as CEO.

“We are grateful to eBay for its guidance. However, we realized there were few long-term synergies between the two businesses. It is best for us to part ways and focus on our respective strengths,” said Camp, stating the very obvious.

StumbleUpon Adds Share

I am no sure when was this feature added but while I surfing my stumbleupon account (by the way, don’t forget to add me as a friend), i’ve noticed something new. Basically, all you need to do is to acces “favorites” and then put the mouse scroll over the image and then a “share” button will appear.

From there, you can choose what friends to share with and there you go! Well, the days of seding to sharing one friend at a time are over. Enjoy this new feature guys! Read the rest of this entry »
